Paris Fashion Week - AI Generated Imagination

Paris Fashion Week is here, and if you know what to look for, you’ll spot the next big lingerie and swimwear trends before they hit the market.

For small brands, trend forecasting can feel overwhelming, how do you translate high-fashion runway moments into commercially viable designs? This is exactly how I analyse Fashion Week to predict what’s next for intimates and swimwear.

Step 1: Compare Trends from Previous Seasons

Before watching the AW25 shows, I always look back. What dominated AW24 and SS24? What carried over from one season to the next?

Here’s what we saw last year:

✔ Corsetry remained strong, with delicate boning and lingerie-inspired tailoring.

✔ Sheer layering became more wearable, often styled over bodysuits or as subtle inserts.

✔ Soft pastels and neutrals replaced stark minimalism, especially in lingerie-inspired evening-wear.

✔ Swimwear embraced a high-fashion feel, with draped elements and unexpected textures.

Now, the question is: Will these trends continue into AW25, or are we seeing a shift?

Step 2: Watch the Right Designers

Not every designer directly influences lingerie and swimwear, so I focus on brands that align with these categories.

👀 Who to watch?

Dior & Dolce & Gabbana → Expect refined corsetry, lace, and vintage-inspired lingerie elements.

Chloé & Zimmermann → Look for soft draping, feminine textures, and romantic detailing.

Alberta Ferretti & Valentino → Pay attention to sheer fabrics, fluidity, and layering.

Trends tend to emerge across multiple collections, if three or more key designers are leaning into the same details, it’s worth noting.

Step 3: Analyse Fabrics & Textures

This is where lingerie and swimwear brands can get the most value from Fashion Week. Fabrics set the mood for the season.

💡 What to look for on the runway:

• More sheer layering, or are we shifting back to structured fabrics?

• Is satin dominating evening-wear, hinting at more fluid lingerie styling?

• Are swimwear elements appearing in RTW collections, think sleek high-shine textures or sculpted shapes?

Take note of fabric pairings. If we see a lot of matte and gloss contrasts, it could signal a shift in lingerie aesthetics.

Step 4: Spot Colour Trends

Seasonal colour palettes tend to influence lingerie and swimwear directly. If a specific hue dominates the runway, chances are, it will filter down into intimates.

🧐 What to ask while watching AW25 shows:

• Are we seeing romantic pastels or bold jewel tones?

• Is black making a statement, or are designers opting for rich autumnal hues?

• Are accent colours appearing in details like lace trims, hosiery, or styling elements?

The key is to identify colours that repeat across multiple collections.

Step 5: Observe Silhouettes & Styling

Silhouettes give strong clues about how lingerie and swimwear will evolve.

🔍 What to pay attention to:

• Are corsets still structured, or are we seeing a softer, relaxed fit?

• Is high-waisted still leading, or are designers experimenting with lower rises?

• Are we seeing lingerie details in outerwear, like slip dresses or visible bralettes?

For swimwear, the biggest question is always: Are we moving towards bold, sculpted looks or softer, draped designs?

Final Takeaways: What AW25 Trends Mean for Lingerie & Swimwear

✔ If multiple designers are using the same textures, colours, and silhouettes, expect them to trickle down into intimates.

✔ Look for lingerie-inspired elements in evening-wear- delicate lace, corsetry, sheer layering.

✔ Notice which swimwear details cross over into RTW- high-shine fabrics, sculpted fits, or draped styles.

✔ Trends often start as bold statements on the runway but become more wearable versions in commercial collections.
